Notorious Alaba Thieves Who Operate With ACID Arrested

Luck has run out on 4 members of a robbery gang who break shops in the Alaba Int'l Market, Lagos.

The modus operandi of the syndicate was to destroy padlocks of their target shops with acid.

It was gathered that the suspects – Tochukwu Akorisa, Ndubuise Egwuatuonwu, Ifeanyi Eze and Aboi Rufus – had attacked a warehouse in the market, stealing 427 cartons of electric bulbs valued at N19.1m.
The shop owner reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of one Tona Nwenyi, who allegedly bought some of the goods from the suspects.

Nwenyi led the detectives attached to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police X-Squad to Akorisa, who reportedly coordinated the robbery operation.

A detective told Punch that Nwenyi was caught at the point of selling the stolen goods.

“Akorisa subsequently led us to his accomplices. Two other persons, Tony Eme and Ejike Chinwoba, who bought the bulbs from the gang, had been arrested.

“We have recovered about 100 cartons out of the 427 cartons they made away with, which is worth N19.1m,” the source said.

Twenty-six-year-old Akorisa, confessed to the act, adding that he intended to use the proceeds of the robbery to give his ailing mother a medical attention.

He said, “I load goods in the market. But the money I earned was not enough for me to take care of my sick mother. I led the operation. We used acid to break the padlock of the warehouse. We went around 9.30pm on that day.”

Egwuatuonwu explained that it was Akorisa, who facilitated the sales of the loot, adding that he was promised N250,000 from the deal.

“But I have not got anything before the police arrested me,” he added.

On his part, Rufus said, “This is my first time. My house rent has expired and I had been living with my friends. I want to rent an apartment. I was thinking of how to get money when Tochukwu (Akorisa) suggested that we rob the warehouse. We stole only 150 cartons of bulbs.”

One of the receivers, Nwenyi, said he wanted to return the bulbs to Akorisa, having discovered they were stolen, when he was arrested.

Chinwomba said, “I bought 30 cartons from Tochukwu. I have paid for 15 cartons. I didn’t know the goods were stolen.”

Police detectives are on the trail of other fleeing suspects.
Pro-Jonathan Protest Rocks Enugu

Pro-Jonathan Protest Rocks Enugu

Some Igbo youths took to the streets of Enugu yesterday in protest against the alleged "persecution" of Patience Jonathan by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Some bank accounts, reportedly belonging to the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan had been frozen by the anti-graft agency.

The protesters, under the aegis of Concerned Igbo Youths, said Patience’s travail was an attempt to humiliate former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Brandishing placards and chanting solidarity songs, the group led by its coordinator, Victor Ezenagu, marched to the Enugu office of the EFCC, where they submitted a petition to the South-East zonal head of the commission, Mr. Johnson Babalola.

Some youths also protested in front of the Enugu State Government House.

In the petition entitled, ‘Unjust persecution and desperate plan to humiliate Goodluck Jonathan,’ the youths demanded an immediate unfreezing of Patience Jonathan’s accounts.

The petition read in part:
“While we salute the commitment of the present administration towards fighting corruption in the country, we express our disaffection to the manner the war is being prosecuted by the commission under your watch.

“Some of the actions of the commission in recent time leave no one in doubt that certain persons have clearly been singled out to be humiliated.

“A case in point is that of a former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, who is currently being prosecuted by the EFCC. We see the freezing of her personal accounts and ongoing prosecution as an attempt to discredit former President Goodluck Jonathan.”

The youths said they were miffed that Jonathan was being victimised by the EFCC, even after sacrificing his ambition “for the sake of the country’s future.”

Omotola To Ladies: If your husband lacks the fear of God, you're on your own

Omotola To Ladies: If your husband lacks the fear of God, you're on your own

At the recently held Africa International Film Festival in Lagos, Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde shares the opinion that sharing faith with one's spouse and being disciplined are both key to a good marriage.
She says, "If you’re a Christian and you marry someone who is not born again then you are on your own. Your partner needs to be stronger than you. They are the ones getting the aftermath of your own action.
"Pick someone who sees your heart, your soul, someone who sees the real you and not afraid to tell you about your flaws.
"Discipline is key. Everyone wants freedom but too much freedom is bad. Be disciplined. It’s better to be an enemy to a work partner than to your family..."

She also advised against giving in to advances to get movie roles. “Sometimes you will get a role for giving yourself out but you won’t be able to retain it. If you become famous it will later haunt you."

Omotola has been married since 1996, and has four with her husband.

Policemen asking me for money since I won Ondo election — Akeredolu

Ondo Governor-elect, Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has urged the high command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to pay the allowances of security personnel deployed for the election in the state.

Akeredolu said this on Wednesday in Akure while delivering his acceptance speech at INEC office after he was given his Certificate of Return along with his deputy-elect, Agboola Ajayi.

Akeredolu lamented that security operatives had been coming to his house since the election to ask for money from him, stressing that they were stranded and have become a burden to him.

He disclosed that the security operatives complained to him that their allowances were not paid since they were deployed for the election last week.

"They have been coming to my house to beg for money telling me that they were not paid their allowances. How can you deploy your officers for such assignment without paying them? I am saying this so that the DIG can take care of the issue," he said, urging the security bosses and Force Headquarters to cater for their personnel.

But the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, denied the allegations on the non-payment of election allowance for the police officers deployed for the election.
Newly-Wed Man Looking for Honeymoon Money Arrested with N575m Heroin

Newly-Wed Man Looking for Honeymoon Money Arrested with N575m Heroin

.A newly-wed man identified as Sunday King and a tricycle rider, Chinedu Egwin, have been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for allegedly smuggling heroin worth N575m into the country.

The suspects were apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos with 6.4 kilogrammes of the drug.

Egwin had trafficked heroin weighing 3.9kg from Kigali via a Rwand Airline flight, while King was caught with 2.5kg of the drug during outward screening of passengers from Nairobi, Kenya.

38-year old King, a trader in Abuja, told the NDLEA investigators that he agreed to smuggle the drug because he needed money for his honeymoon.
He said, “I erroneously took the decision to smuggle the drug barely four days after my marriage. I was in need of money for my honeymoon. But I should not have involved myself in drug trafficking. My thinking was that I could smuggle the drug from Nairobi in two days without my wife knowing that I travelled out of the country.”

Egwin, 32, said he was to be given N400,000 after the botched operation, adding that he wanted to use part of the money to repair his tricycle.

“I am a commercial tricycle rider in Imo State. The engine of my tricycle, which is my only source of livelihood, is bad. While I was looking for money to fix it, I was introduced to the man that promised to pay me N400,000 on the condition that I will bring the drug from Kigali.

“I accepted the offer because nobody was willing to help me. Apart from the repairs, my rent is due and my landlord has been asking for his money,” he said.

NDLEA said the suspects would soon be charged to court

Why I omitted Tinubu from my victory speech – Akeredolu

Why I omitted Tinubu from my victory speech – Akeredolu

Ondo State governor-elect, Rotimi Akeredolu, has said he did not acknowledge a national leader of the All APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in his victory speech because it was not expedient to do so.

He said having acknowledged President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the recognised national leader of the party, and the National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, it was safe to infer that he had acknowledged all the party’s leaders.

Akeredolu said this while answering State House correspondents’ questions shortly after he and his deputy, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, met Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

They were led to the meeting, which was their first after their victory, by the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Campaign Council in Ondo State, Governor Simon Lalong.

The governor-elect, who said the relationship between him and Tinubu was cordial, explained that mentioning the name of Asiwaju specifically would have amounted to him mentioning the names of about 37 other leaders of the party.

He said, “On the names that were mentioned in my speech when expressing gratitude and that I didn’t specifically thank Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I thanked the President and the leader of our party profusely for the leadership which he showed leading to this election.

“I also thanked our indefatigable chairman for standing by the truth and for his position on this matter that led to this election. I have no reason to do otherwise.

“Party structure, to the best of my knowledge, is very clear. You have the leadership of the party and that is represented by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

“After an election, a chief executive emerges, he becomes a leader of the party, you don’t have to personalise and be looking for leaders all over the place."

People Running from America after Donald Trumps Victory?... Canada’s Immigration web crashes

Why are people still afraid when the US President-elect, Donald Trump, has said he would work for the good of all Americans? Or maybe it's illegal immigrants that are in panic mood.

Canada’s immigration website has crashed as Americans watched Donald Trump take the lead and then win the US election. Searches for “move to Canada” and “immigrate to Canada” spiked on Tuesday night as election returns started favouring the Republican nominee.

The website for Citizenship and Immigration Canada was down at the same time, and has suffered several outages since. Many want to find their way into Canada.

Amid financial markets mayhem in the wake of Mr Trump’s shocking victory, reaction across the world started pouring in. The head of Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, Kirill Dmitriev, said Trump’s victory would reduce geopolitical confrontations.
His words: “A less confrontational US foreign policy will unlock major opportunities for joint (Russia-US) trade and investment.”
President Barrack Obama has also called to congratulate Trump as the President-elect.

Trump is endorsed by God to fight immorality in US; says CAN President Rev. Ayokunle

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President, Rev Samson Ayokunle says President-elect of the United States of America, Donald Trump, was positioned by God to fight immorality in the US.

Rev Ayokunle said this at the 29th General Assembly of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) held at First Baptist Church, Garki, Abuja.

The three-day programme is tagged: “God of Life: Lead Nigeria to Justice, Peace and Dignity.’’
He called on Americans to watch very closely as the new administration would not tolerate the issues of immorality in the country any more.

According to him, “God has now positioned him to fight the immoral life in the American society; the nation that was once known as God’s own country is vastly becoming Sodom and Gomorrah.”
Ayokunle said that there was an extent to which a nation would emphasize secular and individual liberty to the neglect of God’s absolute reign in the affairs of men.

He called on Nigerians to be on guard as Boko Haram had not been fully defeated, following recent killing of Lt. Col. Abu Ali and some soldiers in Maiduguri.

“It is not over until it is over; the fact that a top army officer was killed is a signal to the fact that we have not defeated them. It was also an attestation to the commitment of the Federal Government to fight this demon called Boko Haram. So, everybody should be more committed so that the souls of those who died might not be in vain,” he said.

He called on Christians to be united and not to make their doctrinal beliefs to overwhelm them because Jesus Christ prayed for the church to be one.

“We are diverse because of our doctrinal beliefs but we must be one because Jesus says the church must be one; He prayed for the church. I think the problem with us is the placing of much emphasis on autonomy where it becomes its petals when we lack respect for one another. There should be collective recognition of leadership, desire to put up the things of the world and eternity-centered in such a way that occupying position does not matter to anybody,’’ he said.

He said that corruption in the country was endemic and called on the government to keep fighting it so that the country would not be crippled.
23yrs Old Dies While Struggling For Gun... his mother said his death a relief to her

23yrs Old Dies While Struggling For Gun... his mother said his death a relief to her

A vigilance group commander in Oke Aro area of Ogun State, Quadri Adesina, has been arrested by police after an alleged accidental discharge from his gun killed a 23-year-old man, Yusuf Azeez.

Azeez reportedly wanted to wrest the gun from the suspect when a bullet hit him in the thigh. He was rushed to a hospital in the area, unfortunately he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The deceased’s mother, 42-year-old Toyin Akintayo, had invited Mr. Adesina and his colleagues to her residence on CAC Street, Oke Aro, around 8pm on Tuesday to apprehend her son, Azeez, who allegedly threatened to kill her.

It was gathered that Azeez had arrived at home on that day at about 6pm and requested his dinner. The mother was said to have explained to him that she didn’t have enough money to prepare a meal.

Trouble started after the mother, who sells confectionery, gave him N200 to buy food, saying that was all she could afford. He reportedly smashed a bottle on the ground and vowed to kill her.

The mother said, “I wanted to break my fast on that day with garri when he arrived at home. I said there was no kerosene in the stove to prepare food for him and his younger brother. I gave him N200 and the brother N70. He said the N200 was small and threw it at me.

“I explained to him that it was all I had and that we wouldn’t have been in the situation if he did not steal the compressor of my freezer, which I used to sell ice blocks. I also advised him to find a job. He became angry and started threatening me with a knife and the shard of a bottle. He said he would not allow me to sleep at home that night and vowed to kill me.

“I sneaked out to call members of a vigilance group beside our house. They followed me home and tried to pacify him. He fought them and fought for the control of a gun that one of them carried. The gun exploded in the process and he was injured in the thigh. He died at a hospital near here.”

The mother described her son’s death as a relief to her, saying she could no longer endure the shame his notoriety for “stealing and street fighting” had brought to the family.

She added that her son’s gang members stormed her house on Wednesday and threatened that she would pay for Azeez’s death.

The mother said, “I enrolled him in three different secondary schools, he dropped out. I took him to five different furniture experts to learn the work, he absconded. He went into barbing; I gave him N85,000 to rent a shop and furnished it for him. He didn’t go to the shop until the rent expired.

His death is a relief to me and the family. He was too troublesome. There was a time he beat up an Oodua Peoples Cogress member while we were living in Idimu (Lagos). I spent a lot of money on the man’s treatment.

“A few weeks ago, he fought in Agege. He was seriously injured. He had been arrested many times by the police for several offences.”

The man, 48-year-old Adesina, who is in detention at the Agbado Police Division, said Azeez had beaten the two security guards that accompanied him to the scene, adding that he only wanted to prevail on him from causing further havoc when his gun exploded.

He said, “There was no light when we entered the building. He attacked us and two of my boys fled. I told him that I came to make peace. He said he didn’t fear my gun. He descended on me and wanted to snatch it. We were dragging it with each other when it exploded. I didn’t kill him. He would have killed me and his mother if he had access to the gun.”

The state's Police PRO, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The Divisional Police Officer of the station, CSP Abioye Shittu, led operatives to the scene and the suspect has been arrested. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.”

SO GOOD: Kebbi State Surpasses One Million Tonnes of Rice

SO GOOD: Kebbi State Surpasses One Million Tonnes of Rice

The importance of Agriculture to the economy cannot be quantified, more especially in the present economic crunch where all other sources of revenue have dwindled. Besides, agriculture is the only dependable activity that could guarantee food security apart from its economic benefits, hence, the federal government saw the need to diversify the economy with much priority to agriculture.

Nigeria is blessed with vast arable land that can sustain commercial agriculture for both cash crops and food crops. Oil revenue in the global market has continued to shrink and agriculture becomes the alternative economic base that could replace dependency on oil.

The Federal Government, therefore, did not hesitate to go back to agric which used to be the mainstay of the economy prior to the discovery of oil. “Go back to the land and develop agriculture because the era of depending on oil is over’’ that was the message of President Muhammadu Buhari to farmers when he lunched the dry season and the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Anchor Rice Borrowers Programme in Birnin Kebbi on the 17th of November 2015. It could also be recalled that the President has made no secret of his determination to improve the base of Nigeria’s economy by reviving agriculture and opening the mines among other measures.

This month’s clock one year of the CBN Anchor Rice Borrowers Programme in Kebbi state; the program aims to boost rice and wheat production in Nigeria by providing loans to farmers.

Thousands of farmers have seized the opportunity created by the Central Bank Anchor Borrowers Programme to expand rice output it has been celebration galore for rice farmers in the state as they claimed to have recorded high bumper harvest in comparison with previous years.
The kebbi state Governor , Chairman National Task Force on Rice and wheat Atiku Bagudu and his Deputy Samaila Yombe along with Chairman of the state’s Rice Farmers’ Association, Alhaji Sahabi Augie conveyed journalists round to see for themselves place like Augie, Kalgo, Dandi, Bunza, suru, wasagu and Birnin kebbi local government areas where farmers where seen displaying and celebrating their bumper harvest .

Interestingly, Kebbi state has surpassed the one million tonnes of rice targeted for harvest in the year with over eight hundred and fifty tonnes.

The chairman rice farmers Association Sahabi Augie said the yield increase was due to improved seedlings and the assistance rendered to farmers through the Anchor Borrowers Programme of the CBN with over 500,000 hectares of cultivated land across ten local government areas of the state. He explained that the variety of rice cultivated in kebbi include Nerica7 and 84 as well as faro 44,52, and 61 with farming occurring thrice through the dry, wet, dry season within a year with Rima and sokoto river serving the dry season irrigation farming.

Rumours: Real Madrid Want Man Utd Teenage Sensation

REAL MADRID are monitoring Manchester United wonderkid Marcus Rashford, according to reports.

Ok Diario claim Zinedine Zidane is an admirer of the 19-year-old who burst onto the scene after making his debut for the Red Devils in February. Rashford has continued that good form for United this season, netting four times and providing one assist for his team-mates.
The teenager is currently on international duty with England preparing for matches against Scotland and Spain.
And Calciomercato claim Real will send scouts to watch the striker at Wembley on Tuesday evening. Many were concerned with Rashford's ongoing development at United this season following the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan .
But until the recent Premier League victory over Swansea, the striker had been included in the majority of Jose Mourinho's starting line-ups.
If Madrid were to make a sensational move for Rashford, then it would be a huge blow to the Red Devils. But they would not be able to make a move until January 2018 at the earliest due to the transfer ban FIFA have imposed on the club.

Lady Who Was A Prostitute Repents & Gets Married in Church

Lady Who Was A Prostitute Repents & Gets Married in Church

It's not bad for a man to marry an olosho or a retired olosho, but the lady in question must be ready for a new life in God. With that, old things will indeed pass away and all things become new.

It was an awesome testimony for a commercial s*x worker who in September 2016 was among the ladies evangelised by the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Dr Chibuzor Chinyere from a well known brothel in Diobu, Port Harcourt to be happily joined to her husband at the altar of God at the GRA branch of the Church.

Officiating the marriage was the Daddy OPM himself.

According to the G.O, as part of his evergelism message to the converts was a promise that he will not only provide an accommodation for the new converts, set up businesses for them but to also participate and bankroll their traditional and church wedding, should any of the new convert, who in cause of her services to God, found any man of her choice to marry.

The over excited bride in her reactions said:
"In my life, Saturday 28th September 2016 can not be forgotten in hurry. It was the day I met with the General Overseer of OPM physical in our brothel at Diobu where my life was mess up with the habit of prostitution. I have been listening to many people who most time came around to preach to me but to Daddy OPM, his own pattern of evergelism was different from others who tried in vain to convert me. He did not only preached the gospel of the Bible to me but brought me and others out from the devil dungeon, relocate us to an estate, fed us, clothed us and set up life time business for us

Today I am a fulfilled born again christian, having gotten water baptism and again married to a man I love to spend the rest of my life with. God is really great to have used His servant to change my story for good."

The groom also spoke, he said:
"I knew this my wife some years back but have lost contact with her, I am not a member of OPM but I appreciated the good work of Daddy OPM. He sponsored my wedding and provided an accommodation for us to leave after the ceremony, he made my day worth celebrating. I pray God to continue to bless him and the member of the Church".
